ERP in Practice 2018/2019
The study has been conducted by Trovarit AG every two years since 2004 and covers Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The study focuses on the satisfaction of users with the ERP solution operated in their company. Thus, it can be seen as a barometer for the mood prevailing among ERP users. In addition, the study reveals relevant influencing factors in view of current trends and developments.
With more than 14,000 participating companies since 2004, the study “ERP in Practice: User satisfaction, benefits and prospects” presents one of the leading platforms for ERP users for the exchange of experiences.

Information for ERP Users
How satisfied are you with your ERP/Business software and your software vendor? This is the best opportunity to rate your ERP system and compare the result with the result of other users.
Time and effort
It normally takes about 15-20 Minutes to fill out the online questionnaire. If you have participated before, the questionnaire will be partly filled in beforehand, so the time needed to complete or update the answers will be reduced to 5-10 minutes.
As a thank-you, participants will receive the main results of the survey as well as the detailed satisfaction profile for their ERP solution.
Accessing the questionnaire
If you want to participate for the first time, please, start a new questionnaire.
If you have participated in one of the earlier surveys, we will automatically send you your personal login for the questionnaire by the end of March. If you have participated before and you have not received your login, please, request your login via email@example.com.
The data acquisition campaign runs from the middle of March until the end of June. The results will be first published in September 2016 in form of a management summary and within articles published by our media partners.
Availability of results
All participants with valid questionnaires will automatically receive the management summary and the satisfaction profile of their solution via e-mail and free of charge. In addition, we grant a discount of 50% on the complete Survey Report (only available in German) to all participants with valid questionnaires.
The organisers of the survey explicitly pledge themselves, to handle all data pertaining to the satisfaction of individual participants with absolute confidentiality. All data are solely used for statistical analyses. The data of participants are only processed in an anonymised form and not made available to any third parties.
All given information is of course on a voluntary basis. The information, which is absolutely necessary for the evaluation of the questionnaire is marked as mandatory. The remaining details can be omitted without the questionnaire becoming invalid.
We hereby clearly indicate that participants should not answer questions, if they if the are not able to answer them.

The only preconditions for the listing and analysis of a solution are:
- It is an ERP / Business Solution
- There are enough data (representativenesss)
- The database is reliable (unbiased and plausible evaluations)

Time and Effort
It takes first-time participants between 15 and 20 minutes to complete the questionnaire.
This time span will be reduced to 5- 10 minutes, if the participant has already completed a questionnaire of an earlier version of this study. In this case, the participant will automatically receive his or her login data via e-mail in the middle of March.

As soon as the survey results are available, all vendors with a sufficient database will receive the general satisfaction portfolio and the detailed satisfaction profile of their own product(s).
Satisfaction as an Evaluation Characteristic - The Survey as a Barometer
Basically, "satisfaction" is a subjective variable which is determined from the point of view of the respondent. On the other hand, it is 'satisfaction' which makes an ERP installation successful. In this sense, the survey's results are important for decision makers and developers, however, they are not the ultimate yardstick.
As the practical application in different projects has shown, the survey's results can be used like a barometer. A barometer is a reliable indicator of how the wheather might continue without allowing a final and definite wheather forecast. The same is true for the different satisfaction aspects: They indicate where problems might occur, thus enabling the user to plan ahead. As an only selection means however, the 'satisfaction barometer' is unsuitable!
There are more than enough surveys focusing on the ERP market, done by international analysts, consultants and universities. At the same time, more and more vendors do their own customer satisfaction surveys. So, what distinguishes the Trovarit survey from the others? Have a look at our quality criteria:
Continuity - The survey is conducted every two years and thus allows a long-term study.
Thoroughness - The survey's results are thoroughly analysed and repeatedly verified in order to avoid mistakes and misuses.
Regionalism - special attention will be paid to regional characteristics so that significant conclusions can be drawn for each specific region.
Professionality - The organisers are members of the largest network of vendor-independent ERP specialists in the German speaking areas.
Independency - The survey is solely financed by the revenues gained by selling and sponsoring of the Survey Report after its completion. Beforehand vendor sponsoring of the survey itself is excluded.
Accessibility of results - The survey and the results are supported and distributed by leading media partners. The Management Summary is offered as a free download.
Application of the Survey: Use of the Survey's Results for ERP Selection
A company looking for a new ERP software first of all needs to find a system which meets the specific functional requirements of this company. If the system is deficient in this respect, it cannot play to its strength. Also, the vendor can hardly compensate for these deficiencies in an acceptable timeframe and budget.
Therefore, the first step of an ERP selection project must be to find a group of systems which have the functional "Best Fit". Due to the great number of available systems on the market, there usually are several which meet the requirements of a company to a high degree.
The survey can only be used as a means during the second step of the project, when it is important to ask the right questions in order to find the "Best Practise" and to make the final decision for the one ERP solution.
